This holiday season, EDGE Tutor’s leadership team took a step beyond the screen to personally visit the homes of our incredible tutors. It was a chance to express our deepest gratitude for their hard work and dedication, to hear their stories firsthand, and to celebrate the ways EDGE Tutor has been a part of their journey. One such memorable visit was with Teacher LA, whose inspiring transition into online tutoring has touched hearts and transformed lives—not just her own, but those of her students as well.
Teacher LA, a former OFW and call center agent, transitioned to a full-time career in online tutoring with EDGE Tutor—a decision that has been life-changing. She is a Math ESL tutor, and although she initially hesitated to take on this role due to a lack of prior experience teaching Math, her determination saw her through. She admitted feeling intimidated by the materials shared during the application process and almost backed out. However, with the unwavering support of her account manager, Leah, and the comprehensive training provided by EDGE Tutor, Teacher LA gained the confidence and skills she needed to excel in her role. Today, she teaches Math to students in Asia and the US, finding immense fulfillment in positively impacting her learners.
During the visit, Teacher LA shared her dreams of progressing in her career as an ESL tutor and within the EDGE Tutor team. One of her aspirations is to help train other teachers and provide them with the opportunity to start their ESL teaching careers with EDGE. Her passion for teaching extends beyond her classes; she dreams of becoming a mentor who can guide others to achieve success in this rewarding profession.
The conversation also touched on ways working from home has improved LA’s life. She highlighted the convenience and work-life balance it has brought her, allowing her to pursue other personal goals. With her career at EDGE, LA has been able to fulfill another calling—serving as a preacher in her community church during her personal time.
